MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE BUCKEYE GAMES

Posted on: April 18, 2008 2:51 pm

The first Ohio State game I attended was the 1979 Iowa game in Columbus.  Of course the Bucks won and eventually went on to the Rose Bowl where they suffered their only defeat of the season to USC 17-16.  I have been to too many games to remember but the ones that stand out in my mind are the 1982 game against Florida State due to the fact it was very hot that day and I sold Pepsi at the game.  We sold out by halftime and unfortunately got to see the Seminoles win.  Another great game was the Iowa game in which the Hawkeyes came into the Shoe led by Chuck Long and ranked number one.  I met Hayden Fry before the game as all the concessions kids would play on the field before the teams came out.  The 1984 Illinois game was the loudest I can remember Ohio Stadium ever getting as Keith Byers ran out of his shoe and to a victory for the Bucks.  The Texas game was an awesome night game even though we lost to Vince Young and the eventual National Champs.  Seeing the Bucks beat the Blue in 2001 and earn a National Championship Trip was an unbelievable scene after the game.  The 2006 Michigan game was the most emotionally charged game I've been to as both teams came in 1-2 battling for a National Championship appearance only a day after the death of Bo.   There are many other great games I've been to including road games at Purdue, seeing the Bucks beat Texas in Austin, and going to the Sugar Bowl in the Big Easy.
